The Nokia 8 Sirocco:
HMD Global, the Finnish company that licensed Nokia’s production rights to phones, first revealed a Nokia-branded Android product last August.
At the Mobile World Congress 2018, HMD launched the Nokia 8 Sirocco, an improved version that comes with surprising design changes. Indeed, HMD opted for glass on 95% of the Nokia 8 Sirocco, with a tiny stainless steel frame running on the sides.
The result is impressive, and the fingerprint reader has been moved backward to reduce the edges at the front. The entire smartphone is curved towards similar points on the edges, with a design that hides the usual ugly antenna lines. It seems small, light and thin, although the chamfered edges are sharp hairs in hand. Nokia 8 is compatible with Qi compatibility, with wireless charging.
Even inside, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s not the best in 2018, but we’re on the top of 2017. In the center is a 5.5-inch (2560 x 1440-pixel) pOLED screen (designed by LG Display) that seems to have good viewing angles and good colorimetry.
HMD also uses a dual camera module on the back with a 12-megapixel main camera and ZEISS optics. The 5-megapixel front-facing camera also has a wide-angle lens (84 degrees) for selfies and the software will support HMD’s “bothie” mode to take a picture using both the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
There is a new Pro Camera mode, similar to what you could find on older Nokia Lumia devices. It provides manual control over camera settings in a radial menu, with options for changing the white balance, focus, ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation. This is useful if you want more control over what you are shooting.
The set runs Android Oreo on a polished Android One version, it’s simple and effective. Moreover, HMD promises regular updates and a flawless follow-up.
The Nokia 8 tt really a “flagship” that does not offer as much as Samsung, Huawei, Sony or Apple, but can boast of offering a product with impressive finishes with pure Android experience. Here are the complete specs you could find in Nokia 8 Sirocco:
