Huawei P Smart – A solid mid-range device:
At the beginning of this year, Huawei has decided to introduce its entry-level P smartphone. No numbering, but a simple Smart P supposed to replace the P8 and P10 Lite.
Huawei P Smart Design:
Huawei P Smart has a look of Honor 7X with little slimmer, finer and some notable difference. Its front is quite light, focusing primarily on the screen in 18: 9 format. Its left and right edges are a little more marked than on high-end models, but still, know how to be discreet. The forehead welcomes the string of usual sensors (photo, brightness, LED notifications, etc.), while his chin is the highlight in the name of the brand.
On the back, it is made of a very light metal. Light indeed that it gives the sensation of being plastic. Small metal borders close the central part that houses the fingerprint scanner and gives it a small welcome distinction. At the top, its dual photosensor is placed very close to the left corner, the LED flash on the right, and slightly exceeds the body, but a little less than the Honor 7X. It is not enough to be noticed, for a very classic design: effective, but not particularly attractive.
On the upper edge, only the noise reduction microphone is present. On the left side, there is the dual-SIM + micro SD classic hatch. On the right, the volume buttons overlook the lock button. On the bottom edge, there is a jack, a micro USB port and a single grille for the speaker.
The whole is very rounded, smooth and pleasant to take in hand, especially since the phone is quite light. It is a bit slippery, however, without being among the worst in the field. In short, it has a little air of “Honor 7X Lite” which is far from unpleasant.
Huawei P Smart Screen:
What about this 5.65-inch screen at the 18: 9 ratio? This is an IPS LCD panel offering FullHD + definition in 2160 x 1080 pixels. At first glance, it seems well adjusted with a good color balance and very good viewing angles. Note that, as usual with Huawei, the color temperature is precisely configurable by the user. We will leave it as the default setting for this test.
SOFTWARE: EMUI 8.0:
The Huawei P Smart features Android 8.0 Oreo game entry and EMUI 8.0 interface. An effort that is worth stressing on this price range which unfortunately tends to never know the latest versions of the OS when they are available on the market.
Huawei P Smart Performance:
With its Kirin 659 and 3 GB of RAM, it would almost feel like having already seen this Huawei P Smart somewhere … It’s actually very normal since this configuration is found on most models of Honor and Huawei released at the end of the year. The Smart P has only one gigabyte of RAM less than its brothers in arms. This gig in less does not cause a big difference. In the interface, this configuration is fairly fluid with some skirmishes rather common on this segment when we try to go faster than the music. Nothing disturbing in itself.
Huawei Smart P Camera:
To ensure the photo part, the Huawei P Smart is equipped with a 13-megapixel main rear sensor with a lens opening at f / 2.2, supported by a second sensor 2 megapixels helping it to establish the distance of photographed subjects.
In our tests, it is doing pretty well in terms of taking beautiful pictures in daylight. With the right subject, taking into account its price range, of course, the colors are very good and the details well preserved. The white balance is still quick to spin, but the shutter speed is that we can quickly take a snapshot until you find a good one.
In low light conditions, indoors, the report is obviously much more mixed. The colors take a big hit, losing all their fishing, and the noise is displayed very quickly. The snapshots then lose in detail, but still remain relatively usable. Let’s say capturing your evening in all its splendor will not be possible, but we will still have a good idea of the atmosphere that reigned there.
