Google launches Measure application for all ARCore devices

Google Measure App

Google Measure App for ARCore devices:

Google launched its Measure application for all devices compatible with ARCore technology. The application is now available for free download in the Google Play Store the name of Measure – quick, everyday measurements (Google Tango App) but you must first install the ARCore application to make it work.

The Measure application is quite simple and uses the camera on your compatible ARCore smartphone to measure the length or height of objects. You need a textured surface and a good amount of light to work, but once you detect a plane, you can drag the measurement bar on the screen and place it along the edges of the object you want to measure. After that, you can choose to save an image to share.

In my use, the application worked perfectly well in OnePlus 6. The measurements it generated was also reasonably close to what was indicated by the measuring tape. For serious things, it is best to use a tape, but if you only need a rough estimate, this can be quite useful.

The application was previously only available for Google Tango devices. However, it seems that Apple’s decision to include its own AR measurement application in iOS 12 seems to have changed Google’s way of thinking, so now the application is available for all devices compatible with ARCore. Or maybe it’s just a coincidence.
